About MPNA

The primary goal of the MPNA is to give all McClellan Park residents an active voice in the future of the neighborhood by working closely with the City of Madison to develop a plan that covers the major issues facing the residential, commercial and public facets of the area.

We are very excited to be part of a new Neighborhood Association that gives neighbors an opportunity to work together to help build a sense of community. We are excited about its possibilities, and we are confident that it will enhance our social, economic and community values.

To initiate our neighborhood association, a public meeting was held. More than 80 of your neighbors from the associated subdivisions attended. As a result of the meeting, boundaries were established, creating a contiguous area bordered by I-90 to Sprecher Rd. and Milwaukee St. to Cottage Grove Rd. After several ballots, a name, the McClellan Park Neighborhood Association, was approved by a majority of those attending. Finally, a 10-member Board of Directors was elected representing the various interests (homeowners, condo owners, and subdivisions) in the boundary area.

The McClellan Park Neighborhood Association has been certified and registered by the City of Madison. Our Neighborhood Association serves a specific purpose. According to the City of Madison, a neighborhood association is a group of residents, business
representatives, and other interested citizens that devote their time and energy to improve and enhance a well-defined, geographic area where they and others live. There are over 120 neighborhood associations throughout Madison that bring a sense of community to neighborhoods and help citizens make their voices heard in City Hall.

The McClellan Park Neighborhood Association will work to:

• Build a sense of community. Each neighborhood has similarities that they share. For instance: Children attend schools in the area, participate in the similar activities and organizations.

• Empower residents to work together to improve their neighborhoods.
Increase pride in homeownership and neighborhoods.

• Improve quality of life and guard against crime.

• Plan social events (4th of July celebration, garage sales, etc.)

• Address particular issues of the neighborhood (i.e. city parks, schools, traffic, crime prevention, etc), as they are brought to the association’s attention through meetings, block captains, emails/phone calls.

• Provide the neighborhood with an effective communication link with government officials and other decision-making groups. This allows the community to stay abreast of events and developing issues in our community and city such as traffic, proposed zoning changes and commercial development.

We are very pleased to represent residents on the McClellan Park Neighborhood Association Board of Directors. We are excited about its possibilities, and we are confident that it will enhance our social, economic and community values.
