Neighborhood Watch

7/16/05

Dear Neighbors,
In an effort to identify ongoing vandalism in the neighborhood, I am asking if you know of anyone who has shown signs recently of having come in contact with paint.

My tree, garden hose, sidewalk, lawn and "Drive Slowly" yard sign were painted with white and yellow paint. The paint appears to be both spray and brush-on. In addition, toilet paper and tampons were strewn about. The damage was not significant, but it may escalate
and it would help us all to nip it in the bud.

This occurred late Saturday night, July 16th or Sunday morning, the 17th. If you have any information, you may share it with me on a confidential basis, if need be.

Sincerely,
Dave de Felice

In addition to the " egging" that we highlighted in this newsletter, we are now experiencing mailbox smashing in our neighborhood. On Sunday night, around 8:00 pm (still light) a red, Dodge Dakota pickup truck (extended cab) used a golf club to smash 3 mailboxes (one on Malvern Hill, one on Dominion and one on Traveler). The police were contacted; however, there was only a description of the vehicle, not a license plate. The truck has been seen in the area on a regular basis prior to this occurrence.

There have been numerous reports of cars in our neighborhood being "egged" -both inside and outside. Residents are urged to keep their cars locked, off the streets and in garages whenever possible, and be on the lookout for suspicious activity. Report anything unusual or suspicious to the police district office (266-4923 if not an emergency) or, if urgent, 911.
